News letter -"Disassociation" with the Alberta Construction Safety Association
Date: November 22, 2010
WE DO NOT ENDORSE: Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA)
The Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) determined that our membership is not going to continued because we are "unhappy" with the handling of the Self/Qualification audit assessments of our staff.
Cumming Consulting Inc is an advocacy service for employers and workers dealing with WCB. We are an employer, workers under WCB, and lobbyist in Alberta.
The Alberta Construction Safety Association (ASCA) claims to be a non-profit association (congratulations on your newly constructed building). It is my understanding that they have strong association with the Alberta Government and the Alberta WCB with sponsorship in their programs.
Cumming Consulting Inc. membership fees were paid and so were the courses for my staff. They refuse to allow my staff to take the last course to get the certification from their program. They refuse to answer our simple questions. We have been advised there is no appealing this decision.
The fact that some WCB connected associates are not permitting Cumming Consulting Inc. to be part of their "club" reflects positive to our integrity and knowledge. This gives us reassurance that we are doing things right to get the negative reaction.
I have assured my staff that knowledge is intimidating. How many people can make such an impact on a big organization associated with WCB and we have to ask why? My staff and I have knowledge of safety and the impact on WCB claims. To ask questions that the association could not answer resulted in their decision to disassociate us.
How proud as an employer am I that my staff (women) asked question and wanted answers. More employers need to ask questions and know that there are other certifying partners.
What is a Certifying Partner?
A designation of Certifying Partner is given to Partners who are responsible for assessing the quality of health and safety programs in Alberta, and issuing Certificates of Recognition to employers.
